Lobo, from head of its Orthopaedics group Oct. 1, Stryker Corp. went outside the company to find his replacement. David K. Floyd will be the new group president of Orthopaedics, the Kalamazoo-based medical device maker said in a press release. That includes the company’s Reconstructive, Trauma and Extremities, Joint Preservation, Orthobiologics and Performance Solutions. Floyd, who was most recently chief executive officer of OrthoWorx in Warsaw, Ind., comes to Stryker after a 25-year career in the medical technology industry. During that time, he also held leadership roles at Abbott Spine, AxioMed Spine, Centerpulse Orthopaedics and DePuy, a division of Johnson and Johnson. “He is a proven leader who has demonstrated the ability to drive profitable growth through innovation and we are delighted to have David join our executive team at Stryker,” said Lobo in a statement. Floyd, who will report directly to Lobo, also will assume responsibility for Stryker’s Spine division, effective Jan. 1, Stryker said. Timothy J. Scannell, who became head of MedSurg and Spine in 2009, will take on Stryker’s Neurotechnology business, in addition to his current role as leader of MedSurg.
